CORE VACCINES Recommended for all dogs irrespective of lifestyle, unless there is a specific medical reason not to vaccinate.
Dogs
- Distemper, Adenovirus, Parvovirus, +/- Parainfluenza (DAPP)
- Dogs ≤16 Weeks of Age: At least 3 doses of a combination vaccine between 6 and 16 weeks, 2-4 weeks apart.
- Dogs >16 Weeks of Age: 2 doses of a combination vaccine, 2-4 weeks apart.
- Revaccination: A single dose within 1 year following the last dose in the initial vaccination series. Administer subsequent boosters at intervals of 3 years.
- Rabies
- Initial Vaccination and Revaccination: As required by law. Delmar Animal Hospital administers the first vaccination as a 1 year vaccination, and subsequent vaccinations as 3 year vaccinations.
NONCORE VACCINES Recommended for some dogs based on lifestyle, geographic location, and risk of exposure.
- Leptospirosis
- Initial Vaccination: Two doses, 2-4 weeks apart, starting at 12 weeks of age.
- Revaccination: A single dose within 1 year, then boosters annually.
- Lyme Disease
- Initial Vaccination: Two doses, 2-4 weeks apart.
- Revaccination: A single dose within 1 year, then boosters annually.
- Canine Influenza Vaccine
- Initial Vaccination: Two doses, 2-4 weeks apart
- Revaccination: A single dose within 1 year, then boosters annually.
- Bordetella/Kennel Cough Vaccine
- Initial Vaccination:
- Parenteral (SQ): Two doses, 2-4 weeks apart.
- IN: Single intranasal dose.
- Oral: Single buccal dose.
- Revaccination: Boosters annually.
- Initial Vaccination:
Cats
CORE VACCINES Recommended for all cats irrespective of lifestyle, unless there is a specific medical reason not to vaccinate.
- Feline Panleukopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus 1, Feline Calicivirus (FVCP)
- Initial Vaccination: No earlier than 6 weeks of age, every 3-4 weeks until 16-20 weeks of age.
- Revaccination: A single dose within 1 year, then boosters every 3 years.
- Rabies
- Initial Vaccination and Revaccination: As required by law.
NONCORE VACCINES Recommended for some cats based on lifestyle, geographic location, and risk of exposure.
- FELV
- Initial Vaccination: Two doses, 2-4 weeks apart, starting at 8 weeks of age.
- Revaccination:
- High-risk cats: Single dose yearly.
- Low-risk cats: Every 2-3 years.
